Description

• An antibiotic indicated for infections caused by gram-positive bacteria and penicillinase-producing staphylococcal infections in skin and soft tissue, respiratory, nasal, ear, and throat, and sensitive bacteria-related infections

Dosage & Administration

• 500mg orally four times a day, or via intramuscular, intravenous, plural or joint cavity injections depending on the severity and location of the infection. Dosage for children varies based on age and route of administration

Indications

• Treatment of various infections such as boils, abscess, pneumonia, lung abscess, cellulitis, infected wounds, infected burns, and infected skin ulcers

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in hypersensitive patients with a history of penicillin allergy

Side Effects

• Common side effects include fever, diarrhea, indigestion, rash, urticaria, and erythematous reactions. Discontinue use in case of any rash

Precautions & Warnings

• Use with caution in patients with a history of allergy to penicillin. Solutions for injection or eye drops should not be used. Syrups and drops should be prepared and stored appropriately before use. Injectable solutions should be used within 30 minutes of preparation. Maintain appropriate temperature for storage
