Indications
- Treatment of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Respiratory tract, nasal, ear, and throat infections
- Sensitive bacterial infections
- Pneumonia
- Lung abscess
- Empyema
- Osteomyelitis
- Urinary tract infections
- Cellulitis
Dosage & Administration
- Adult oral dosage: 500 mg four times a day
- Adult intramuscular injection: 250-500 mg every 4-6 hours
- Children's oral dosage: varies by age
- Children's intramuscular injection: 250 mg with 1.5 ml of water to be administered
- Storage in cool and dry place
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to penicillins
Side Effects
- Mild and temporary reactions similar to other penicillins
- Possible side effects: fever, diarrhea, indigestion, rash, or itching
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution for patients with allergy history
- Avoid subconjunctival injection or ocular drops
- Proper storage of syrup and drops in a cool place
- Reconstituted injection to be used within 30 minutes
