Indications
- Treatment of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Respiratory tract, nose, ear, and throat infections
- Sensitive bacterial infections such as osteomyelitis, enteritis, endocarditis, urinary tract infections, and septicemia
Dosage & Administration
- 500mg orally four times a day
- 250-500mg intramuscularly every 4-6 hours
- 500mg intravenously every 6 hours
- 500mg intrapleurally or in a joint cavity once daily
- Pediatric dose varies based on age and weight
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to penicillin
Side Effects
- Common side effects similar to other penicillins such as fever, diarrhea, and rash
- Discontinue use in case of any type of rash
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with allergy history
- Avoid subconjunctival injection or use as eye drops
- Prepare and store suspension and drops at cool temperatures
- Only use prepared solution within 30 minutes for injection administration
