Indications
- Treatment of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria and penicillinase-producing staphylococci
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Respiratory tract, nasal, ear, and throat infections
- Sensitive and other bacterial infections such as osteomyelitis, enteritis, endocarditis, urinary tract infections, and septicemia
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 500mg orally four times a day or as an injection
- Children: half the adult dose for ages 2-10, quarter for under 2, with corresponding injection doses specified
- Specific injection doses for muscle, vein, plural, and joint cavities
- Preparation and administration instructions for syrup and drops
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to penicillin
Side Effects
- Mild and transient reactions similar to other penicillins, including fever, diarrhea, indigestion, rash, urticaria, and erythematous reactions
- Discontinue use in case of any type of rash
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients with allergy history
- Avoid subconjunctival injections or eye drops
- Proper storage and preparation instructions for syrup and drops
- No use of parenteral injection or eye drops
