Indications

Treatment of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria
Treatment of infections caused by penicillinase producing staphylococci
Infections including skin and soft tissue infections (boils, abscess, cellulitis)
Respiratory tract, nasal, ear, and throat infections (pneumonia, sinusitis, tonsillitis)
Sensitive bacteria and other infections (osteomyelitis, urinary tract infections)

Dosage & Administration

500mg orally four times a day for adults
Intramuscular injection: 250mg every 4-6 hours
Injection into veins: 500mg every 4-6 hours, dosage may be doubled if necessary
500mg intrapleurally or in joint cavity once a day for adults
Dosage varies for children based on age and weight, with instructions for both oral and injection administration

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to penicillin

Side Effects

Similar side effects to other penicillins, including mild and transient reactions such as fever, diarrhea, indigestion

Precautions & Warnings

Caution for patients with a history of allergy to ensure careful use
Avoid subconjunctival injections and use as eye drops
