Indications

Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Inhibits cell wall formation
- Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
- Resistance to hydrolysis by penicillinase
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Interferes with peptidoglycan synthesis
Dosage
- Oral administration for adults: 250 mg four times daily
- Oral administration for severe infections: dosage may be doubled
- Oral administration in osteomyelitis and endocarditis: up to 8 gm daily
- Intramuscular injection for adults: 250 mg four times daily
- Intravenous injection for adults: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
Administration
- Oral doses 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may increase Ancoc level in blood
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
