Indications
- Treats skin and soft tissue infections
- Treats respiratory tract infections
- Effective against osteomyelitis, enteritis, endocarditis
- Used as a prophylactic agent during major surgical procedures
Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
- Inhibits cell wall formation of bacteria
- Bactericidal against penicillinase-producing staphylococci
Dosage
- Oral administration for adults: 250 mg four times daily
- Dosage may be doubled in severe infections
- Parenteral administration for adults: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
- Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before a meal

Interaction
Concurrent use may result in increased levels of Clox-F in blood
Contraindications
Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients

- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia
- Rashes, urticaria, purpura, fever
- Interstitial nephritis, hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice

- Use with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction
