Indications

  • Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
  • Treatment of respiratory tract infections
  • Treatment of osteomyelitis
  • Treatment of enteritis
  • Prophylactic use during major surgical procedures

Pharmacology

Inhibits formation of cell wall in bacteria, active against Gram-positive organisms, bactericidal, resistance to hydrolysis by penicillinase

Dosage

  • Oral administration for adults: 250mg four times daily
  • Oral administration for children (2-10 years): Half of adult dose
  • Oral administration for children (under 2 years): Quarter of adult dose
  • Parenteral administration for adults: 250mg four times daily by intramuscular injection
  • Parenteral administration for adults: 250mg-1g four times daily by slow intravenous injection or infusion
  • Parenteral administration for children (2-10 years): Half of adult dose
  • Parenteral administration for children (under 2 years): Quarter of adult dose

Administration

Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before meal

Interaction

Concurrent use of Eflucin may result in increased levels of Eflucin in blood for prolonged period

Contraindications

Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients

In severe renal failure (creatinine clearance <10ml/min), consider dose reduction or extension of dose interval
