Indications for Use
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Respiratory tract infections
- Osteomyelitis treatment
- Urinary tract infection treatment
- Treatment during major surgical procedures
Pharmacological Action
- Inhibition of cell wall formation in bacteria
- Resistance to hydrolysis by penicillinase
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Inhibition of bacterial cellwall synthesis
Dosage
- Oral administration for adults: 250 mg four times daily
- Oral administration for children (2-10 years): Half of adult dose
- Oral administration for children (Under 2 years): Quarter of adult dose
- Parenteral administration: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
- Intramuscular Injection for adults: 250 mg four times daily
- Intravenous Injection for adults: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
- Intravenous Injection for children (2-10 years): Half of adult dose
- Intravenous Injection for children (Under 2 years): Quarter of adult dose
Administration
- Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before meal
Interaction with Other Medications
- Concurrent use may result in increased level of Faxilin in blood
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients

- Common gastrointestinal side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dyspepsia
- Rashes, urticaria, purpura, fever
- Hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice

Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction
- Caution in treatment of patients with allergic diathesis
