Indications
- Treatment of infections due to Gram-positive organisms
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Respiratory tract infections
- Osteomyelitis

Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
- Inhibits the formation of bacterial cell wall
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Useful against penicillinase-producing staphylococci
Dosage
- Oral administration for adults and children
- Parenteral administration for adult or elderly and children
- Higher dosage for severe infections
- Administered 1 hour before meal for oral doses

- Oral administration 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may increase blood levels for prolonged period
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients

- Common side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia
- Rashes, urticaria, purpura, fever
- Interstitial nephritis, hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice
