Indications

Treatment of Gram-positive infections
Skin and soft tissue infections

Osteomyelitis treatment
Urinary tract infection treatment
Prophylactic use in major surgical procedures

Pharmacology

Active against Gram-positive organisms
Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
Inhibits formation of bacterial cell wall
Bactericidal antibiotic
Interferes with peptidoglycan synthesis

Dosage

Adult oral dosage: 250 mg four times daily
Children's oral dosage: Half of adult dose (2-10 years), Quarter of adult dose (under 2 years)
Adult parenteral dosage: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
Administration 1 hour before meal

Interaction

Concurrent use may increase blood levels of Flubex

Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
