Indications
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Respiratory tract infections

Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Inhibits cell wall formation in bacteria
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Useful against penicillinase-producing staphylococci
Dosage
- Adult oral dosage: 250 mg four times daily
- Adult parenteral dosage: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
- Dosage may be doubled in severe infections
- Children dosage: Half of the adult dose
Administration
- Oral doses 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may increase Flucil level in blood
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
Side Effects
- Gastrointestinal side effects: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Rashes, urticaria
- Interstial nephritis
- Hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice

- Excreted in human milk
- Caution in lactating mothers

- Use with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction
- Caution in patients with allergic diathesis
