Pharmacology

  • Active against Gram-positive organisms
  • Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
  • Inhibits formation of bacteria cell wall
  • Bactericidal antibiotic
  • Particularly useful against penicillinase-producing staphylococci
  • Inhibits transpeptidase enzyme
  • Resists action of bacterial penicillinase

Administration
