Indications
- Skin and soft tissue infections

Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
- Inhibits cell wall formation of bacteria
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Interferes with peptidoglycan synthesis
- Resistant to hydrolysis by penicillinase
- Steric hindrance induced by acyl side chain inhibits bacterial penicillinase
Dosage
- Adult oral dose: 250 mg four times daily
- Adult parenteral dose: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
- Children (2-10 years) dose: half of adult dose
- Children (Under 2 years) dose: a quarter of adult dose
- Intramuscular and intravenous administration
Administration
- Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may result in increased level of Fluxin in blood for prolonged period
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients

- Caution needed during pregnancy and lactation due to excretion in human milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction
- Caution in patients with allergic diathesis
Use in Special Populations
- Reduction in dose or extension of dose interval in severe renal failure

- Administered in other routes in conjunction with systemic therapy
- Intraarticular and intrapleural injection
