Indications
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Respiratory tract infections
- Osteomyelitis

Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Inhibits formation of bacterial cell wall
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Resists action of bacterial penicillinase
Dosage
- Oral administration:
- Adult: 250 mg four times daily. Dosage may be doubled in severe infections
- Children (2-10 years): 1/2 of adult dose
- Children (Under 2 years): 1/4 of adult dose
- Parenteral administration:
- Adult or Elderly: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
- Children (2-10 years): half of the adult dose
- Children (Under 2 years): a quarter of the adult dose
Administration
Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before meal
Interaction
Concurrent use of Isoclox may result in increased level of Isoclox in blood for prolonged period
Contraindications
Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients

Pregnancy & Lactation
Category B for pregnancy. Excreted in human milk. Caution for lactating mothers
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction
- Exercise caution in patients with allergic diathesis

Reduction in dose or extension of dose interval in severe renal failure

Reconstitution
- Administered in other routes in conjunction with systemic therapy
- Dissolved in 0.5% solution of lignocaine hydrochloride if necessary
- Inhaled by nebuliser four times daily
