Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Inhibition of bacterial cell wall formation
- Resistance to hydrolysis by penicillinase
- Gastric acid stability
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Kills bacterial cell wall
- Interferes with peptidoglycan synthesis
- Weakening of bacterial cell wall
Dosage
- Oral administration for adults: 250 mg four times daily
- Oral administration for children (2-10 years): 1/2 of adult dose
- Parenteral administration for adults: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
- Parenteral administration for children (2-10 years): half of the adult dose
Administration
Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before meal
Interaction
Concurrent use may result in increased level of Isoclox in blood
Contraindications
Contraindicated in penicillin-hypersensitive patients
