Indications
- Treatment of infections due to Gram-positive organisms
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Respiratory tract infections
- Urinary tract infection treatment
- Prophylactic agent for surgical procedures
Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Inhibits formation of bacterial cell wall
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Resistance to hydrolysis by penicillinase
Dosage
- Adult dosage: 250 mg four times daily
- Children (2-10 years) dosage: Half of adult dose
- Parenteral administration: Intramuscular and Intravenous Injection
Administration
- Oral doses to be administered 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may increase Monaclox-F levels in blood
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
Side Effects
- Common gastrointestinal side effects
- Rashes, urticaria, fever
- Hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice reported
Pregnancy & Lactation
- US FDA Category B for pregnancy
- Excreted in human milk
- Caution advised for lactating mothers
