Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
- Inhibits the formation of bacterial cell wall
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Resists the action of bacterial penicillinase
Dosage
- Oral administration for adults and children
- Parenteral administration for adults, elderly, and children
- Intramuscular and intravenous injection
- Oral doses administered 1 hour before meal
Administration
- Oral administration recommended 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may result in increased level of Staphylox in blood
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
