Indications
- Treatment of infections due to susceptible microorganisms
- Ear, nose, and throat infections
- Lower respiratory tract infections

Pharmacology
- Broad spectrum penicillin
- Effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
- Inhibition of biosynthesis of cell wall
- Stable in the presence of gastric acid
- Rapidly absorbed after oral administration
Dosage
- Adult dosage: 250 mg - 500 mg three times daily
- Children dosage: 125 mg - 250 mg three times daily
- Special dosage for severe or recurrent purulent respiratory infection, otitis media, pneumonia, dental abscess, urinary tract infections, gonorrhoea, and renal impairment
Administration
- Suspension can be administered by adding to milk, fruit juice, water
- Reconstituted suspension should be taken immediately
Interaction
- Concurrent use with Probenecid may increase and prolong blood levels
- May affect gut flora and lower estrogen reabsorption
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
Side Effects
- Mild and transient side effects
- Side effects may include diarrhoea, indigestion, rash
- Rare reports of pseudo-membranous colitis

- Caution during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Possibility of superinfections with mycotic or bacterial pathogens
- Appropriate therapy should be instituted if superinfections occur
