Indications
- Treatment of infections in ear, nose, and throat
- Treatment of lower respiratory tract infections
- Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections

Pharmacology
- Broad spectrum penicillin
- Effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
- Inhibition of biosynthesis of cell wall
- Stability in the presence of gastric acid
- Rapid absorption after oral administration
- Widely distributed in body tissues and fluids
Dosage
- Adult dosage of 250 mg to 500 mg three times daily
- Children dosage of 125 mg to 250 mg three times daily
- Specific dosage for severe or recurrent purulent respiratory infection, otitis media, pneumonia, dental abscess, urinary tract infections, and gonorrhea
- Dosage adjustment in renal impairment
Administration
- Reconstituted suspension can be administered with milk, fruit juice, or water
Interaction
- Concurrent use with Probenecid may increase and prolong blood levels
- Potential impact on gut flora and estrogen reabsorption
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
