Dosage

  • Adults:
    • 250 mg three times daily
    • Up to 500 mg three times daily for severe infections
  • Children:
    • 125 mg three times daily
    • Up to 250 mg three times daily for severe infections

Administration

  • Can be administered by reconstituting the suspension in milk, fruit juice, or water

Interaction

  • Concurrent use with Probenecid may result in increased and prolonged blood levels of Amoxicillin

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients

Side Effects

  • Mild and transient, including diarrhea, indigestion, rash, and rarely, pseudo-membranous colitis

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Excreted in human milk, caution advised for lactating mothers
