Indications

Pharmacology
- Broad spectrum penicillin
- Inhibition of cell wall biosynthesis
- Stability in gastric acid
- Rapid absorption after oral administration
Dosage
- Adult dosage of 250 mg three times daily
- Children dosage of 125 mg three times daily
- Severe or recurrent purulent respiratory infection dosage of 3 gm every 12 hours
- Otitis media dosage of 1 g three times daily for adults and 40 mg/kg body weight daily in 3 divided doses for children
- Pneumonia dosage of 500-1000 mg three times daily
- Dental abscess recommended dose of 3 gm
Administration
- Reconstituted suspension administration
- Mixing with milk, fruit juice, or water for administration
Interaction
- Concurrent use of Apimox and Probenecid
- Lower estrogen reabsorption with combined oral estrogen/progesterone contraceptives
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
