Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose 5 mg once daily
- Maximum dose 10 mg once daily
- Lower dose for elderly and hepatic insufficiency
- May be taken without regard to meals
Drug Interactions
- Potentially hazardous interactions with p-blockers
- No interaction with Digoxin
- No interaction with Cimetidine
- No alteration of Warfarin effect
- No alteration by food
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to dihydropyridine derivatives
- Pregnancy

Use in Special Populations
- Children 6-17 years: starting dose 2.5 mg once daily, up-titrated to 5 mg once daily
- Elderly: equally well tolerated at similar doses as in younger patients
- Renal impairment: no correlated dosage changes
- Hepatic impairment: dosage recommendations not established, caution in dose selection
Overdose Effects
- Symptoms: excessive peripheral vasodilatation, reflex tachycardia, systemic hypotension, shock
- Management: active cardiovascular support, elevation of extremities, attention to fluid volume, vasoconstrictor usage, calcium gluconate administration, gastric lavage, charcoal usage, dialysis unlikely to be beneficial
