Description

Pharmacology

Dosage
- Adult dosage: 250-500 mg three times daily
- Children dosage: 125-250 mg three times daily
- Higher dosage for severe or recurrent purulent respiratory infection, otitis media, pneumonia, dental abscess, urinary tract infections, and gonorrhea
- Dosage adjustment required in renal impairment
Administration
- Reconstituted suspension can be administered with milk, fruit juice, or water
Interaction
- Concurrent use with Probenecid may increase and prolong blood levels
- May affect gut flora and reduce efficacy of combined oral contraceptives
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin-hypersensitive patients

- Rare reports of pseudo-membranous colitis
