Description
Moxin 500 mg Capsule is indicated in the treatment of infections due to susceptible ß-lactamase negative strains of microorganisms. It is effective against a wide range of infections including ear, nose, and throat infections, lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, genito-urinary tract infections, dental abscess, H. pylori infection, and venereal disease. The pharmacology involves the inhibition of biosynthesis of cell wall. The recommended dosage for adults is 250-500 mg three times daily for severe infections, and for children is 125-250 mg three times daily. It can be administered by adding the required amount of suspension to milk, fruit juice, or water. Concurrent use of Moxin and Probenecid may result in increased and prolonged blood levels of Moxin. Amoxicillin is contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients. Side effects may include diarrhea, indigestion, rash, and rarely pseudo-membranous colitis. It is FDA pregnancy category B and caution should be taken during lactation. Amoxycillin 500 mg Injection can be reconstituted for intramuscular or intravenous use. It should be stored in a dry place away from light and heat, and out of the reach of children.
