Pharmacology
- Broad spectrum penicillin
- Effective against Gram-positive bacteria
- Effective against Gram-negative bacteria
- Inhibition of cell wall biosynthesis
- Stable in gastric acid
- Rapid absorption after oral administration
Dosage
- Adult dosage: 250 mg three times daily
- Adult dosage for severe infections: 500 mg three times daily
- Children dosage: 125 mg three times daily
- Children dosage for severe infections: 250 mg three times daily
- Severe or recurrent purulent respiratory infection: 3 gm every 12 hours
- Otitis media recommended dose: 1 g three times daily for adults
- Otitis media recommended dose for children: 40 mg/kg body weight daily in 3 divided doses (max. 3 g daily)
- Pneumonia recommended dose: 500-1000 mg three times daily
- Dental abscess recommended dose: 3 gm, repeated after 10-12 hours
- Urinary tract infections recommended dose: 3 gm, repeated after 10-12 hours
- Gonorrhoea recommended dose: Single dose of 2-3 gm with Probenecid 1 gm
- Dosage adjustment in renal impairment
Administration
Reconstituted suspension can be administered by adding the required amount of suspension to milk, fruit juice, or water.
Interaction
Concurrent use of Navamox and Probenecid may result in increased and prolonged blood levels of Navamox. Navamox may affect gut flora, leading to lower estrogen reabsorption and reduced efficacy of combined oral estrogen/progesterone contraceptives.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients.

Pregnancy & Lactation
- US FDA pregnancy category B
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Caution in lactating mothers
Precautions & Warnings
Possibility of superinfections with mycotic or bacterial pathogens should be kept in mind during therapy. If superinfections occur, Navamox should be discontinued, and appropriate therapy should be instituted.

- Intramuscular reconstitution: Add 2.5 ml water for injection to Amoxicillin 500 mg injection vial
- Intravenous reconstitution: Dissolve Amoxicillin 500 mg injection in 10 ml water for injection

Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of the reach of children.
