Indications

Pharmacology
Amoxicillin is a broad spectrum penicillin effective against a wide range of bacteria by inhibiting cell wall biosynthesis. It is stable in gastric acid and rapidly absorbed after oral administration.
Dosage
- Adult: 250 mg three times daily, increasing up to 500 mg three times daily for severe infections
- Children: 125 mg three times daily, increasing up to 250 mg three times daily for severe infections
Administration
Reconstituted suspension can be administered by adding the required amount of suspension to milk, fruit juice, or water.
Interaction
Concurrent use of Navamox and Probenecid may result in increased and prolonged blood levels of Navamox. Navamox may affect gut flora, leading to lower estrogen reabsorption and reduced efficacy of combined oral contraceptives.
Contraindications
Amoxicillin is contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients.

Pregnancy & Lactation
Amoxicillin is FDA pregnancy category B. Caution should be exercised when administered to lactating mothers.
Precautions & Warnings
Superinfections with mycotic or bacterial pathogens should be kept in mind during therapy. Appropriate therapy should be instituted if superinfections occur.

Reconstitution
Intramuscular: Add 2.5 ml water for injection to Amoxicillin 500 mg injection vial. Intravenous: Dissolve Amoxicillin 500 mg injection in 10 ml water for injection.
