Indications
- Treatment of ear, nose, and throat infections
- Treatment of lower respiratory tract infections
- Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
- Treatment of genito-urinary tract infections
- Treatment of venereal disease
- Treatment of dental abscess
- Indicated in combination therapy for H. pylori infection and duodenal ulcer disease
Pharmacology
Broad spectrum penicillin
Dosage
- Adult: 250 mg three times daily, increasing up to 500 mg for severe infections
- Children: 125 mg three times daily, increasing up to 250 mg for severe infections
Administration
Oral suspension can be administered by adding to milk, fruit juice, or water
Interaction
Concurrent use with Probenecid may result in increased and prolonged blood levels, lower estrogen reabsorption
Contraindications
Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients

- Occasional rash
- Rarely, pseudo-membranous colitis
