Indications

Pharmacology

  • Broad spectrum penicillin
  • Inhibition of biosynthesis of cell wall
  • Stable in the presence of gastric acid
  • Rapidly absorbed after oral administration
  • Widely distributed in body tissues and fluids

Dosage

  • Adult dose: 250 mg three times daily
  • Maximum adult dose for severe infections: 500 mg three times daily
  • Pediatric dose: 125 mg three times daily
  • Maximum pediatric dose for severe infections: 250 mg three times daily
  • Recommended dosage for specific infections

Administration

  • Reconstituted suspension can be administered with milk, fruit juice, or water

Interaction

  • Concurrent use of Tymox and Probenecid
  • Impact on gut flora

  • Penicillin hypersensitivity
