Indications
- Ear, nose and throat infections
- Lower respiratory tract infections

Pharmacology
- Broad spectrum penicillin
- Effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
- Inhibition of cell wall biosynthesis
Dosage
- Adult dosage: 250mg three times daily, up to 500mg three times daily for severe infections
- Children dosage: 125mg three times daily, up to 250mg three times daily for severe infections
- Specific dosages for infections like otitis media, pneumonia, dental abscess, urinary tract infections, and gonorrhoea
Administration
- Reconstituted suspension can be administered with milk, fruit juice, or water
Interaction
- Concurrent use with Probenecid may increase and prolong blood levels
- May affect gut flora and reduce efficacy of combined oral contraceptives
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
Side Effects
- Mild and transient side effects like diarrhea, indigestion, and rash
- Rare cases of pseudo-membranous colitis

- Excreted in human milk, caution in lactating mothers
