Pharmacology

  • Semisynthetic analogue of Cephalosporin C
  • Interferes in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall

Dosage & Administration

  • Usual adult dose 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours
  • Children's dose range 25-100 mg/kg/day
  • Maximum adult dose 3 g to 6 g daily
  • Dosage based on children's weight

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics
