Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose: 5 mg once daily
- Maximum dose: 10 mg once daily
- Lower dose for elderly
- Administration without regard to meals
Interaction
- Potentially hazardous interactions with p-blockers in patients with impaired cardiac left ventricular function
- No interaction with Digoxin
- No interaction with Cimetidine
- No significant alteration of Warfarin effects
- Food does not alter absorption
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to dihydropyridine derivatives
- Pregnancy

Use in Special Populations
- Children with hypertension from 6 to 17 years
- Starting dose: 2.5 mg once daily

Overdose Effects
- Excessive peripheral vasodilatation
- Reflex tachycardia
- Systemic hypotension
- Shock
- Cardiovascular support needed
- Elevation of extremities
- Circulating fluid volume monitoring
- Vasoconstrictor may be helpful
- Intravenous calcium gluconate
- Gastric lavage
- Use of charcoal within 2 hours
- Dialysis unlikely to be beneficial
