Indications
- Treatment of upper respiratory tract infections

Description
- Acid-stable and semi-synthetic oral cephalosporin
- Rapid absorption after oral administration
- Maintains high urine concentration above MIC of susceptible pathogens
Pharmacology
- Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis
- Binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs)
- Arrests cell wall assembly resulting in bacterial cell death
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage for different infections
- Children's dosage
- Can be taken with or without food
- Administration with food helpful in diminishing gastrointestinal complaints
Interaction
- No significant drug interaction with other drugs
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Cefadroxil or its ingredients
Side Effects
- Well tolerated in general
- Commonly reported side effects: gastrointestinal disturbances, hypersensitivity phenomena
Pregnancy & Lactation
- US FDA pregnancy category B
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Excreted in human milk, caution during lactation

- May cause pseudomembranous colitis
- Caution in patients developing diarrhea during therapy
