Indications

Description
- Acid-stable and semi-synthetic oral cephalosporin
- Rapidly absorbed after oral administration
Pharmacology
- Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis
- Binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs)
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 1g per day in one or two divided doses
- Children dosage: 30mg/kg daily in divided doses every 12 hours
Interaction
- No significant drug interaction with other drugs
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Cefadroxil or any of the ingredients
Side Effects
- Most commonly reported side effects are gastrointestinal disturbances and hypersensitivity phenomena
Pregnancy & Lactation
- US FDA pregnancy category B
- Excreted in human milk
Precautions & Warnings
- May cause pseudomembranous colitis
- Caution advised during diagnosis in patients who develop diarrhea in association with therapy
