Indications

Description
- Acid-stable and semi-synthetic oral cephalosporin
- Rapidly absorbed after oral administration
- Maintains urine concentration above MIC of susceptible urinary pathogens
Pharmacology
- Inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis
- Binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs)
- Arresting cell wall assembly resulting in bacterial cell death
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage for different infections
- Children dosage
- May be taken with or without meals
- Administration with food may diminish potential gastrointestinal complaints
Interaction
- No significant drug interaction with other drugs
Contraindications
- History of hypersensitivity to Cefadroxil or any of its ingredients
Side Effects
- Generally well tolerated
- Commonly reported side effects: gastrointestinal disturbances and hypersensitivity phenomena
Pregnancy & Lactation
- US FDA pregnancy category B
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Caution advised during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- May cause pseudomembranous colitis
- Caution advised for patients developing diarrhea during Trubid therapy
