Indications

  • Treatment of infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
  • Upper respiratory tract infections: sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, laryngo-tracheo bronchitis, otitis media
  • Lower respiratory tract infections: bronchitis, lobar pneumonia, bronchopneumonia
  • Urinary tract infections: cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis
  • Skin and soft tissue infections: abscess, cellulitis, furunculosis, impetigo
  • Susceptible microorganisms: Staphylococci, Streptococci, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumonia, E.coli, Klebsiella spp, Proteus mirabilis, Haemophilus influenza, Shigella spp, Salmonella spp, Neisseria spp
  • Semisynthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Active against both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
  • Cell wall inhibitor
  • Pharmacology: main site of action is the cell wall of bacteria
  • Dosage for oral administration in adults and children
  • Dosage for injectable administration in adults and children
  • Interaction with nephrotoxic drugs and diuretics
  • Contraindicated in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
