Description
Avlosef is a semisynthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic, it is active against infections caused by both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. Both penicillinase producing and nonproducing staphylococci are sensitive to Cephradine.
Indications
- Upper respiratory tract infections
- Lower respiratory tract infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
Mode of Action
- Inhibits cross-linking process in cell wall of bacteria, leading to lysis due to external osmotic pressure
Dosage and Administration
- Oral administration for adults: 500mg four times daily or 1g twice daily for urinary tract infections
- Injectable administration for adults: 2-4 gm daily in four equally divided doses up to 8 gm daily
Interaction
- Increased risk of kidney damage with concomitant use of nephrotoxic drugs
- Enhanced renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid

- Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
