Indications
- Treatment of infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
- Upper respiratory tract infections
- Lower respiratory tract infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Susceptibility to specific microorganisms
Pharmacology
- Semisynthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
- Active against both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
- Inhibits cross-linking process in bacteria's cell wall
- Main site of action is the cell wall of bacteria
Dosage & Administration
- Oral administration for adults and children
- Dosage recommendations for different types of infections
- Dosage adjustment for elderly and patients with impaired renal or hepatic function
- Injectable administration dosage for adults and children, including prophylactic dose
Interaction
- Concomitant use with nephrotoxic drugs
- Enhanced risk of renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid
Contraindications
- Not to be used in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
