Indications

  • Treatment of infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
  • Upper respiratory tract infections
  • Lower respiratory tract infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Susceptibility to specific microorganisms

Pharmacology

  • Semisynthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Active against both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
  • Inhibits cross-linking process in bacteria's cell wall
  • Main site of action is the cell wall of bacteria

Dosage & Administration

  • Oral administration for adults and children
  • Dosage recommendations for different types of infections
  • Dosage adjustment for elderly and patients with impaired renal or hepatic function
  • Injectable administration dosage for adults and children, including prophylactic dose

Interaction

  • Concomitant use with nephrotoxic drugs
  • Enhanced risk of renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid

  • Not to be used in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
