Dosage

  • 500mg four times daily for adults with urinary tract infections
  • 250 to 500mg four times daily for adults with respiratory tract infections
  • 250 to 500mg four times daily for adults with skin and soft tissue infections

  • Maximum daily dosage: 4 gm
  • Usual dose of 2-4 gm daily in four equally divided doses for adult injectable administration

Interaction

  • Concomitant use of nephrotoxic drugs may increase the risk of kidney damage
  • Diuretics and probenecid can enhance renal toxicity

Pharmacology
