Indications

  • Treatment of infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
  • Upper respiratory tract infections

Pharmacology

  • Semisynthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
  • Inhibition of cross-linking process in bacteria cell walls
  • Cell lysis due to external osmotic pressure

Dosage & Administration

  • Oral administration for adults and children
  • Dosage for urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections
  • Special dosage for elderly and patients with impaired renal or hepatic function
  • Injectable administration dosage for adults and children

Interaction

  • Concomitant use of nephrotoxic drugs
  • Enhanced risk of kidney damage with diuretics and probenecid

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
