Indications
- Treatment of infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
- Upper respiratory tract infections
- Lower respiratory tract infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
Pharmacology
- Semisynthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
- Active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
- Inhibition of cross-linking process in bacteria cell wall
- Bactericidal action due to cell lysis from external osmotic pressure
Dosage & Administration
- Oral and injectable administration
- Different doses for adults and children
- Dosage adjustment for elderly and patients with impaired renal or hepatic function
Interaction
- Increased risk of kidney damage with nephrotoxic drugs like aminoglycosides
- Enhanced renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid
Contraindications
- Not to be used in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to cephalosporins

Use in Special Populations

Overdose Effects
- Non-specific symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea
