Indications

  • Treatment of infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
  • Upper respiratory tract infections
  • Lower respiratory tract infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Skin and soft tissue infections

Pharmacology

  • Broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Active against both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
  • Inhibits cross-linking process in the cell wall of bacteria

Dosage & Administration

  • Oral administration for adults and children
  • Injectable administration for adults and children
  • Special dosage recommendations for elderly and patients with impaired renal or hepatic function

Interaction

  • Risk of kidney damage when used concomitantly with nephrotoxic drugs
  • Enhanced possibility of renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid

Contraindications

  • Not to be used in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
