Pharmacological Action

  • Cephradine inhibits cross-linking process in the cell wall of bacteria, causing the formation of cell wall with pores and eventual lysis of bacteria due to external osmotic pressure.

Recommended Dosage

  • 500mg - 1g for adults with urinary tract infections
  • 250mg - 1g for adults with respiratory tract infections
  • 250mg - 1g for adults with skin and soft tissue infections
  • 25-50mg/kg for children
  • Maximum daily dosage: 4g for adults

Interaction

  • Increased risk of kidney damage when used with nephrotoxic drugs such as aminoglycosides
  • Enhanced possibility of renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid
