Indications

  • Treatment of upper respiratory tract infections
  • Treatment of lower respiratory tract infections
  • Treatment of urinary tract infections
  • Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
  • Susceptibility to specific Gram-positive bacteria
  • Susceptibility to specific Gram-negative bacteria

Pharmacology

  • Broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
  • Inhibition of cross-linking process in bacteria cell wall

Dosage & Administration

  • For oral administration - Adults:
    • Dosage for urinary tract infections
    • Dosage for respiratory tract infections
    • Dosage for skin and soft tissue infections
  • For oral administration - Children:
    • Total daily dose based on body weight
    • Specific dosage for otitis media
    • Maximum daily dosage
  • For injectable administration - Adults:
    • Usual dose
    • Prophylactic dose
  • For injectable administration - Children: Dosage based on body weight

Interaction

  • Potential risk of kidney damage with nephrotoxic drugs
  • Enhanced renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid

Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
