Indications

  • Treatment of infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
  • Upper respiratory tract infections
  • Lower respiratory tract infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Susceptibility to specific microorganisms

Pharmacology

  • Semisynthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
  • Cell wall inhibitor
  • Mechanism of action at the cellular level

Dosage & Administration

  • Oral administration for adults and children
  • Specific dosage for urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections
  • Dosage for injectable administration in adults and children
  • Dosage adjustments for elderly and patients with impaired renal or hepatic function

Interaction

  • Interaction with nephrotoxic drugs such as aminoglycosides
  • Enhanced risk of renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid
