Indications

  • Treatment of infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
  • Upper respiratory tract infections
  • Lower respiratory tract infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Susceptible microorganisms to SK-cef

Pharmacology

  • Semisynthetic broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Active against both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
  • Inhibits cross-linking process in bacterial cell wall

Dosage & Administration

  • Dosage for adults and children for oral and injectable administration
  • Dosage adjustments in renal impairment
  • Maximum daily dosage: 4 gm
  • Dosage for prophylaxis

Interaction

  • Concomitant use of nephrotoxic drugs
  • Enhanced risk of kidney damage with specific diuretics
  • Interaction with probenecid

Contraindications

  • Not to be used in patients with hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
