Indications

  • Treatment of upper respiratory tract infections
  • Treatment of lower respiratory tract infections
  • Treatment of urinary tract infections
  • Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
  • Susceptible microorganisms - Staphylococci, Streptococci, E. coli, Klebsiella spp, etc.

Pharmacology

  • Semisynthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
  • Inhibits cross-linking process in bacteria cell walls
  • Causes lysis of bacteria due to external osmotic pressure

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended oral dosage for adults and children
  • Maximum daily dosage
  • Dosage for injectable administration in adults and children
  • Monitoring for patients with impaired renal or hepatic function

Interaction

  • Increased risk of kidney damage with concomitant use of nephrotoxic drugs
  • Enhanced possibility of renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid

  • Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
