Indications
- Treatment of infections caused by sensitive Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria
- Upper respiratory tract infections
- Lower respiratory tract infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
Pharmacology
- Broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
- Active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
- Inhibition of cross-linking process in bacterial cell walls
Dosage & Administration
- Oral administration for adults and children
- Different dosage for urinary tract, respiratory tract, and skin infections
- Dosage adjustment for elderly and patients with impaired renal or hepatic function
- Injectable administration for adults and children
- Prophylactic dose for preoperative use
Interaction
- Increased risk of kidney damage when used concomitantly with nephrotoxic drugs
- Enhanced risk of renal toxicity with diuretics and probenecid
Contraindications
- Not to be used in patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
