  • Adult dosage: 250 mg every 8 hours
  • Maximum adult dosage: 4 g/day
  • Pediatric dosage: 20 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8 hours
  • Maximum pediatric dosage: 1 g/day
  • Renal impairment dosage adjustments not usually required
  • Haemodialysis may shorten serum half-life by 25-30%
  • False-positive reaction for glucose in the urine
  • Potential interaction with oral anticoagulants
  • Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to the Cephalosporin group of antibiotics
  • Gastro-intestinal symptoms may occur
