- Haemodialysis may shorten serum half-life by 25-30%
- False-positive reaction for glucose in the urine
- Potential interaction with oral anticoagulants
- Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to the Cephalosporin group of antibiotics
- Gastro-intestinal symptoms may occur
- Transient hepatitis and cholestatic jaundice reported rarely
- Fever, abdominal pain, superinfection, renal dysfunction, toxic nephropathy, hemorrhage, elevated LDH, and pancytopenia may occur
- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Small amounts detected in mother's milk
- Caution when administered to a nursing woman
- Prescribing in the absence of a proven or strongly suspected bacterial infection is unlikely to provide benefit
- Prolonged use may result in the overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms
- Renal excretion inhibited by Probenecid
- Caution in individuals with a history of gastrointestinal disease
- Careful inquiry about previous hypersensitivity reactions before therapy
- Caution when given to penicillin-sensitive patients
- Cautious administration to patients with demonstrated allergies
- Toxic symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, and diarrhea
