Description

  • Indicated for respiratory tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, urinary tract infections, skin and skin structure infections
  • Active against Alpha and beta haemolytic Streptococci, Staphylococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Branhamella catarrhalis, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella species, Haemophilus influenzae
  • Adult dosage of 250 mg every 8 hours, with a maximum dosage of 4 g/day
  • Pediatric dosage of 20 mg/kg/day, with a maximum dosage of 1 g/day
  • Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to Cephalosporins
  • Possible side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, transient hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice, fever, abdominal pain, renal dysfunction, toxic nephropathy, hemorrhage, elevated LDH, and pancytopenia
  • Caution advised during pregnancy and lactation
